Table Tennis England

The role:

Organising the Veterans’ British Table Tennis League (VBL).

This voluntary role(s) covers all administration and logistics around the playing events, and working with the allocated Referee who organises the competition.

The VBL runs over two weekends per year, and currently comprises 58 men’s teams in 4 Divisions, and 22 women’s teams in 3 divisions. The ‘19/20 season event dates are 28-29 September 2019 and 22-23 February 2020, and it is expected the postholder will be appointed in time to work towards the 2nd event. The events are taking place in Derby.

One or two persons are sought to work collaboratively.

Responsibilities include:

  • Liaison with venue (and Table Tennis England office for booking accommodation and finance)
  • Booking accommodation for officials at nominated hotel
  • Sourcing and booking umpires
  • Liaison with equipment suppliers
  • Supervising the setting-up of the venue
  • Working with the Referee
  • Volunteer liaison
  • Event administration – sending out entry forms, populating new season leagues, processing player registration forms, printing score sheets, maintaining club ranking lists, maintaining a team entry ‘waiting list’ etc
  • Working to an agreed budget
  • Attendance at the British League committee meetings (c.3 per year)

Who we are looking for:

One or two enthusiastic coordinators, who are well organised, fully IT literate, and have the proven ability to run successful table tennis events.
