Paul Karabardak and Martin Perry combined to win bronze in the men’s class 14 doubles on the final day of the Para Copa Tango in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

The Welsh/Scottish partnership came through their group unbeaten after 3-0 wins against Felipe Amorim De Oliveira and Gilberto Onofre from Brazil and the two Argentinian pairs of Aleksy Nikolas Kaniuka/Emanuel Emiliano Martinez Alcalde and Rodrigo Ariel Demoor/Cristian Alberto Canteros.

That took them through to the semi-finals where they lost 3-0 to Ignacio Hernan Torres Orostica and Claudio Benjamin Bahamondes Vega from Chile.

“The doubles went really well up until the semi-final,” said Perry. “It’s been a while since Paul and I have played together and we enjoyed ourselves. Obviously we’re disappointed not to have gone further than the semi-final but credit to Chile they played really well and really clever.”

Self-funded Simon Heaps and his French partner also topped their group after three wins out of three but were beaten 3-0 in the quarter-finals by Lucas Carvalhal Arabian and Jean Carlo De Oliveira Padilho from Brazil.
