Jakub Piwowar and Larry Trumpauskas reached the knockout rounds at the WTT Youth Contender Linz in Austria, losing to high-ranked opponents.

Both boys won two of their three Under-17 group matches, Piwowar only losing his third match 11-9 in the decider, to advance to the last 64.

There, Piwowar was defeated by the world No 50 and seventh seed, Lee Hoyun from South Korea, while Trumpauskas, playing his first WTT tournament, went out to the world No 109, Sora Matsushima of Japan.

Ralph Pattison, also at his first WTT event, went out in the group stage, defeated by opponents from Germany, South Korea and Slovakia.

In the under-13s, Adam Alibhai made his international debut but was unable to get out of a group including opponents from Colombia, India and the Czech Republic.

Piwowar, Trumpauskas and Pattison will play in the under-15s today, while Joshua Bruce will feature in the under-19s.
