There was a different winner in every competition as the Gloucester Grand Prix rounded off the GP series for the season.
Top seed Jiaqi Meng won the Women’s Singles, while the Men’s Singles title went across the border to Wales as Callum Evans prevailed.
Women’s Singles
Top seed Jiaqi Meng took the title and, with England Commonwealth Games squad player and second seed Mollie Patterson having withdrawn, Danielle Kelly came through to take her place in the final.
It was a routine 3-0 (11-3, 11-7, 11-6) victory in the end for Meng, who had earlier bearen Juliette Helfi 3-0 (11-7, 11-5, 11-4) in the semi-finals.
Kelly’s semi-final was much tougher and she came from 2-0 down to triumph 3-2 (4-11, 9-11, 11-7, 11-4, 11-6) against Ewelina Sychta.
Men’s Singles
Wales defeated Ireland as Callum Evans took the title with a 3-1 (9-11, 11-6, 11-6, 11-7) victory over Paul McCreery, who was unable to add to his Band 1 win from the previous day.
McCreery came through two tough matches on his way to the final, beating Umair Mauthoor 3-2 (11-5, 12-10, 8-11, 11-13, 11-5) in the quarter-finals and then coming from 2-1 down to beat top seed and London GP winner Chris Doran 3-2 (6-11, 11-8, 6-11, 11-8, 12-10) in the semi-finals.
It was a similar tale for Evans in the bottom half of the draw as he got past Jose Vitor Marquiori 3-2 (12-10, 4-11, 11-7, 8-11, 11-5) in the quarter-finals and then beat second seed Sam Mabey 3-2 (7-11, 10-12, 18-16, 11-7, 11-6) in a titanic semi-final.
Restricted Singles
Umair Mauthoor took the title with three 3-0 victories in a row from the quarter-finals – though he had earlier come through a battle against Zak Earley in the last 16, emerging with a 3-2 (10-12, 12-10, 11-7, 4-11, 11-7) victory.
He went on to beat Zak’s twin brother Thomas in the semi-finals and then took the title with a 3-0 (11-6, 11-1, 11-7) win over Joe Killoran in the final.
Killoran had beaten Joshua Dye 3-0 (11-7, 11-8, 11-6) in the other semi-final.
Veterans’ Singles
Jaroslaw Chrzanowski staved off a final comeback by Simon James to prevail 3-2 (11-7, 11-7, 10-12, 11-13, 11-4) and take the title.
Both semi-finals were done in four – the champion defeating Gary Young and James beating Liwu Wei, but there was more drama in the quarters.
There, Chrzanowski had to come from 2-0 down to Zayd Mauthoor, finally winning 3-2 (7-11, 1-11, 11-6, 11-8, 11-7), while James also recovered a deficit as he beat Viri Chauhan 3-2 (9-11, 11-1, 6-11, 11-4, 11-5).
Under-21 Women’s Singles
Danielle Kelly made up for disappointment in the Women’s Singles by winning the under-21s, overcoming Tiana Dennison 3-1 (11-2, 7-11, 11-8, 11-6) in the final.
In the last four, she defeated Lauren Loosemore 3-1 (9-11, 11-9, 11-6, 12-10), while Dennison secure her place in the final by beating Gemma Kerr 3-1 (11-6, 11-6, 8-11, 11-3).
Under-21 Men’s Singles
There were some protracted battles in the under-21 men’s before Nahom Asgedom emerged the victor, beating Joseph Hunter 3-2 (12-10, 6-11, 7-11, 11-7, 11-9) in the final.
His semi-final also went the distance as he overturned a 2-0 deficit to beat David Hay 3-2 (7-11, 8-11, 11-3, 12-10, 11-6).
Hunter got past James Hamblett 3-1 (11-9, 9-11, 11-5, 11-9) in his semi-final, having earlier been pushed by Bertie Kelly in the quarters, Hunter taking it 3-2 (7-11, 11-6, 11-8, 6-11, 11-6).
Women’s Band 1-2
Juliette Hefi took the title in the merged women’s Band 1 and Band 2, defeating Gemma Kerr 3-0 (11-3, 12-10, 11-9) in the final.
In the semi-finals, the champion had beaten Lauren Loosemore 3-1 (11-6, 5-11, 11-6, 11-6) and Kerr had got past Amanda Zhang 3-1 (10-12, 11-7, 12-10, 11-3).
Men’s Band 1
Paul McCreery took the top prize thanks to a 3-0 (11-3, 16-14, 11-7) victory over Mircea Neagu.
Neagu had staved off a fightback from Adam Nutland in the semi-finals, prevailing 3-2 (14-12, 11-8, 7-11, 11-13, 11-6).
McCreery defeated Ismaila Akindiya 3-1 (6-11, 11-5, 11-7, 11-9) in the other semi-final.
Men’s Band 2
Teenager Joseph Hunter prevailed over Umair Mauthoor 3-0 (11-4, 12-10, 11-7 to win the title.
Both semi-finals were decided in four as Hunter beat Jie Fu Tham 9-11, 11-6, 11-7, 11-3 and Mauthoor overcame Daniel Moses 11-4, 8-11, 11-6, 11-3).
Women’s Band 3
Lauren Loosemore was the winner as the two beaten semi-finalists in Bands 1-2 met in the Band 3 final.
It took Loosemore five games to beat Amanda Zhang 3-2 (11-13, 11-6, 11-8, 9-11, 11-7).
Both semi-finals were done in four – Loosemore beat Jodie Morris 14-12, 7-11, 11-6, 11-6, 11-8 and Zhang overcame Katherine Vinas 11-7, 7-11, 11-5, 11-7.
Men’s Band 3
Jie Fu Tham was the winner, defeating Jose Vitor Marquiori 3-2 (6-11, 12-10, 7-11, 12-10, 11-8) in the final.
Tham defeated Alex Attew 3-1 (5-11, 11-6, 13-11, 11-3) in his semi-final, while Marquiori beat James Hamblett 3-1 (11-8, 8-11, 11-9, 15-13).
Hamblett and Attew had both come from 2-1down in their quarter-finals to beat Luke Greenfield and Hassan El Kaakour respectively.
Women’s Band 4
Lok Sze Sum was the victor, getting past Ahlam Adel Abdulla 3-1 (11-7, 11-5, 7-11, 11-5) in the final.
In the last four, it was a 3-0 (11-6, 11-3, 11-8) win for Sum over Anna Piercey and a 3-1 (11-5, 11-9, 11-13, 11-7) victory for Abdulla over Jyothirmayi Vaishnavi.
Men’s Band 4
Jose Vitor Marquiori went one better than in Band 3, winning the Band 4 title with a 3-1 (13-11, 10-12, 11-8, 11-8) victory over Daniel Allen.
It was four games all round in the semi-finals too, where Marquiori overcame David McKenze 8-11, 11-4, 11-8, 11-8 and Allen triumphed 13-11, 11-8, 8-11, 11-6 against Alex Attew.
Men’s Band 5
Daniel Young’s 3-0 (11-5, 11-9, 12-10) victory saw him win the final against Cain Fagan.
The champion had a battle in the semi-finals, beating Chris Price 3-2 (7-11, 11-9, 14-12, 4-11, 11-6). The other semi was more routine for Fagan, who defeated Gary Young 3-0 (11-6, 11-9, 11-8).
Men’s Band 6
Ryan Chung was the winner, beating Benjamin Barbarash 3-1 (11-9, 11-2, 7-11, 11-4) in the final.
The champion’s run to the final saw him win in five in both the quarters and semis, first beating Daniel Young (11-9, 13-15, 9-11, 11-5, 11-7) and then Abubaker Saleh (11-6, 9-11, 9-11, 11-7, 11-6).
Barbarash also had a five-setter against Chris Price in his quarter-final (11-9, 11-4, 8-11, 6-11, 11-3) and then beat Jamie Cole 3-0 (11-6, 14-12, 11-7) in the last four.
