Another exciting tournament on the Isle of Wight saw some top-class table tennis involving players over 40.
There were no real surprises in this event, with the top four entries (according to ratings) going through to the semi finals – Mark Turner, Paul Rainford, Tim Giles and Mike Turner.
Paul (last year’s runner-up) beat Mark 3-1 and Mike beat Tim 3-2, meaning Paul will play Mike in the final on Finals Night on 30 April. It will be a busy night for Paul, as he is already in the Men’s Doubles final.
By a strange co-incidence, Mike and Paul are also the finalists in the Over-60s tournament, so they will play each twice on Finals Night in two separate tournaments. Can anyone remember something similar happening in their Association?
