Will Bayley has vowed to return a stronger player in four years time after being left disappointed with his silver medal in London.

The Englishman was beaten 3-1 by reigning Paralympic Games Champion Jochen Wollmert in the Class Seven table tennis final at the ExCeL.

Bayley was distraught after the defeat as his German rival won through 3-1 (11-8, 4-11, 11-5, 11-4). But, having improved on his first appearance at the Paralympic Games in Beijing four years ago, where Bayley lost at the preliminary stage, the 24-year-old is already looking to better himself at Rio 2016.

He said: “I’m disappointed to get a silver medal because I feel like I’m the best player in the world at the moment. I feel like I’ve let a few people down, but I’m happy to have something to show for it.”

He added: “We have played each other so many times on so many big occasions and I’ve just got to say well done to him, but I’ll beat him in Rio. I wanted it so bad, I’ve pushed myself really hard and trained hard but it wasn’t my time hopefully it will be in Rio.”
