Sam Walker upset the odds to win the Heritage Oil Open with a brilliant attacking display.

The Worksop teenager, seeded 13, saw off Hungary’s No 2 seed Adam Pattantyus in the semi-finals in front of the BT Sport cameras, before beating Portugal’s Enio Mendes in the final.

Mendes had earlier upset top seed Liam Pitchford in a five-game semi-final, coming from 2-1 down to see off the England No 1.

In the women’s competition, Kelly Sibley had to dig deep in her semi-final to see off Welsh youngster Charlotte Carey, who came from 2-0 down to level the match before Sibley took the decider.

In the final, Sibley faced China’s Fangxian Yi, who had beaten Agnes Le Lannic in the other last-four clash. But there was no double for England as the Chinese former world No 44 saw off Sibley to lift the crown.

The action took place at the BT Sport studio in London’s Olympic Park and will be shown on BT Sport from 9-11pm on Saturday July 12th.
