School teams prepare to bounce into action

The weekend of the 23rd/24th February 2013 will see the Butterfly National School Team Championship Regional Finals played on Saturday at St. Bede’s RC Sports College, Blackburn and Harewood Academy, Bournemouth and on Sunday at Grantham Table Tennis Centre and Whitgift School, Croydon.

This round follows County Team Championships and Zone Finals at Under 11, 13, 16 & 19 – boys’/girls’ events for teams of four players.

Winners will proceed to the 47th English Schools’ Table Tennis Association Team Championship Finals which will be held at the Hinckley Leisure on 23rd March 2013.  These events are supported by Butterfly – the official table tennis equipment supplier to ESTTA.

Kesteven & Grantham Girls’ School (Under 19 girls); Harewood Primary School, Stockton on Tees (Under 11 girls); Ernest Bevin College, Tooting Bec (Under 19 boys); Evesham High School (Under 16 girls) and Haygrove Academy, Bridgwater (Under 13 girls) will be fighting to retain their titles won in 2012.

They will be pushed by other teams who reached the 2012 National Finals looking to snatch their crown and many schools, new to this level of the competition.

This is a special event for Kesteven & Grantham who are not only defending a Championship won last year but one they have held for the last four consecutive years.

For a full list of participating schools in the Butterfly School Team Regional Finals see the ESTTA website www.estta.org.uk.
