Oxfordshire County Cadets show promise in first season

After one victory over Worcestershire and a defeat against eventual champions Warwickshire, Oxon travelled to Essex, missing the services of a second girl and with two players making their county debut.

After losing 3-7 to Norfolk with two wins from Kristelle Brook and a fine win by Luke Jobling, Oxon had an epic match with Essex, narrowly losing 4-6. Kristelle lost her only match in the competition 13-11 in the fifth to Jenny Crampnell and Kavan Warrender was one point off victory in his second match, narrowly losing 9-11. Luke, Kavan, Kristelle and 11 year old Josh Selby all won one singles.

Oxon the showed their fighting spirit with a 7-3 victory over Suffolk and then an 8-2 victory over Cambridgeshire. Considering Oxon was starting each match 0-2 down, it was a tremendous performance by the team.

Kristelle Brook finished as the top girl player with 11 wins from 12.

Young Josh Selby achieved 6 wins from 8, Luke Jobling, playing at number one, secured 7 wins from 12 in the season and Kavan Warrender got 4 from 8 matches.
