Two exciting events for the public at Keighley Table Tennis Centre

Keighley Table Tennis and Recreation Centre will be opening its doors at 11am on Saturday 13th October for two crowd-pulling events: an annual Open Day, and later on that evening, the Centre’s main fundraising event of the year, Race Night.  The Centre, which has been running for four years now in conjunction with Haworth Hawks’ Table Tennis club, plans to make this year’s events the biggest and best yet.

The Open Day, which is free of charge and open to all comers whether they play table tennis or not, is always extremely enjoyable, with a wide range of stalls and activities. Alongside table tennis exhibitions, a chance to enter a ‘Beat the Robot’ competition (a training machine that fires ping pong balls at you) and to browse a whole range of table tennis equipment, there will also be 3D games console demonstrations, an art group, food and drink and a tabletop sale.

The day will give families, sports people, table tennis players and schools a chance to see the centre and appreciate what’s available.  Local business people are extremely welcome to come and discuss taking advertising space there.

Doors will close at 2pm to allow the Centre to get ready for the next event: Race Night, which starts at 7pm with the first race at 7.30pm.

This is a really fun occasion, with 8 jungle animals ‘racing’ around a wooden course, their progress decided by random selection on bingo balls. In the hurdle race, animals can fall and be knocked out of the race. The action never fails to entertain and excite both the spectators and those who have bet on the horses! There are six races, ranging from the Keighley Canter to the Haworth Handicap.  The evening’s entertainment will also include a raffle, with some excellent (and not necessarily table tennis related!) prizes. Tickets cost £5 for adults and £3 for under 18’s. This fee includes supper – a delicious meat or veggie curry, or sandwiches .

Both events are being held at Keighley Table Tennis and Recreation Centre, 2nd Floor Keighley Business Centre, South Street, BD21 1SY. For more information or to purchase tickets please contact the centre on 01535 872029 or email [email protected]
