Communities are coming together during the coronavirus pandemic – and our sport will take centre stage on World Table Tennis Day on Monday.

Run by the ITTF Foundation and supported by the ITTF, World Table Tennis Day has grown year on year, with a record-breaking 922 events in 107 countries registered in 2019.

This year’s April 6 celebration will be a little different to previous years, though, as people the world over are invited to embrace the stay-at-home ethos and celebrate our sport safely and responsibly in the midst of these difficult times.

Among the special events on the day will be the reveal of the longest ever online table tennis rally, made up of snippets filmed by table tennis fans across the world, including our very own England No 2 Maria Tsaptsinos!

Also the ITTF’s Facebook page will be showing 24 hours of superb table tennis coverage, starting at 00:00 GMT on April 6.

What’s promised is 24 hours of original, never seen before, archive footage, all in HD, taking you on a trip down memory lane to revisit a bucket list of classic, unforgettable matches from the past and many of the greatest legends to ever play the sport.

To get you in the festive spirit, hidden easter eggs will appear on screen at certain points of the 24-hour programme. The challenge is for fans to collect as many Easter eggs as possible by taking selfies that show the eggs and submit them to this online form for a chance to win autographed balls and rackets.

It promises to be a special day, showcasing the spirit of our sport across the globe – so make sure you are a part of it!
