ITTF Foundation on shortlist at prestigious awards

The ITTF Foundation has been shortlisted in four categories, including two special coronavirus classes, at the Sport Business Awards 2020.

The Foundation is one of 10 candidates up for the Coronavirus Innovation Award – Communication, which recognises an outstanding communication campaign to engage with supporters, fans and media during the crisis.

The other shortlisted candidates include the ATP, the Professional Darts Corporation and a number of football clubs including Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United.

The ITTF Foundation is also one of nine organisations on the shortlist for the Coronavirus Innovation Award – Compassion, which celebrates fundraising, volunteering and acts of kindess by organisations or individuals during the pandemic. The Foundation is the only shortlisted organisation which is not an English football club.

The Foundation is also up against a number of football clubs in the Best Club CSR or Community Scheme category for its Slum Ping Pong initiative and is the Best Sports Governing Body Initiative for its Parkinson’s World Championships project.

The ITTF Foundation is the charitable and development arm of the ITTF, with a mission to use table tennis as a tool for development and peace by connecting people all over the world, implementing or supporting projects on the field and empowering them to serve as models; making table tennis popular, universal and inclusive.

Two Table Tennis England partners are also shortlisted. Rackets Cubed, a charity which provides sports, education and food in areas of deprivation and with whom we began a partnership earlier this year, is up for Best Sports Charity (or best use of sport by a charity), against the likes of thr Lord’s Taverners and the Youth Sport Trust.

Jockey Club Services, a partner of Table Tennis England, which provides financial services to clients in the sports industry, is shortlisted in the Best Professional Services in Sport category and the Best Business Serving Sport category.

The winners will be announced in an online ceremony on Wednesday December 16.
