The Jack Petchey London Schools’ Team Finals take place at a brand new venue this Saturday (January 18th) from the University of East London (UEL).

The UEL was a successful host for last year’s Individual Finals and now the venue is set to welcome over 200 budding young table tennis stars from across London to compete in the third edition of the team finals.

Forty-six teams will take place from a variety of schools across the capital, all hoping to win the big prize on finals day following their respective successful qualification campaigns.

There will be a number of keen faces, some old and some new, including a few English internationals players such as Igor Morais and Gabriel Achampong who have featured previously in the tournament finals.

Saturday’s event will be a fine showcase and celebration of the work of the Jack Petchey Foundation whose continued funding and support have allowed underprivileged children across London to have access to our sport.

Nearly 500 tables have now been donated to around 100 schools in London which has seen over 2,000 students attend a local table tennis club as a result of the scheme.

Those fortunate enough to have learnt on the table and earned a place at the team finals this weekend will also be able to benefit from a few extra packages on offer at the UEL.

London 2012 Paralympian David Wetherill will be on hand to lend his expertise while there will also be a ‘beat the robot’ competition, an Xbox gaming console challenge and a raffle which includes the top prizes of an iPod Nano, an iPod Shuffle and a signed England shirt.
