Darius Knight and Hannah Hicks took the top prizes in the men’s and women’s singles at the Cardiff Satellite Grand Prix

Knight’s run to the final had an international flavour as he beat Irishman Paul McCreery in the quarter-finals and Ryan Jenkins of Wales in the semis.

He then beat David McBeath in the final – his opponent having lowered the colours of serial Grand Prix finalist Chris Doran in his last-four clash.

Hicks, winner of the Medway Grand Prix earlier this season, beat Charlotte Carey in the last eight and Karina Le Fevre in the semi-finals and then enjoyed a 3-1 victory over Chloe Thomas in the final.

Callum Evans swept the field to win the Under-21 boys, beating Conor Edwards, Ryan McConkey and Ryan Fellows along the way. Fellows beat Ryan Oyler to reach the final.

Hannah Lynch-Dawson won the women’s Under-21 event, beating Erin Thompson in the semis and Beth Roberts in the final. Roberts had beaten Naomi Jackson in the other semi-final.

In the Open doubles, Matt Ware and Paul McCreery took the round robin ahead of Charlotte Carey and Gavin Maguire.

Jojo Senorin was victorious in the Veteran singles as he beat second-placed Neil Wright plus Andy Frain, Mark Farrow, Dennis Bromage and Jonathan Allen to the title.
