Nicola Perry was pipped to the Coach of the Year award at the Nottingham Sports Awards.

The University of Nottingham TTC coach was on a shortlist of three but, in the event, the award was won by swimming coach Glenn Smith, who has worked with world and Paralympic champions.

Nicola and ice dance coach Sophie Yates were the runners-up.

Nicola was unable to attend the presentation ceremony but her mother, Table Tennis England Chairman Sandra Deaton, was on hand to receive the finalist certificate on her behalf.
