Oxford Cadets Report

Heart of England Cadet League, 10/11/12

v Rugby A won 7-3

v Leamington A lost 2-8

v Leamington B won 6-4

Luke Jobling 4/6, Kristelle Brook 3/6, Reece Chamdal 3/6 Kavan Warrender 4/9, Doubles 1/3

Ten-year-old Reece Chamdal made his debut for Oxford Cadets (Under 15s) in the second series of Heart of England League matches at Warwick on Saturday.

Newcomer Kavan Warrender also appeared for the first time. Reece was thrown in immediately against Rugby A, winning 2/3 singles, as did Luke Jobling and Kristelle Brook, in a 7-3 victory. Leamington A proved to be a step too far in the next match, with Kristelle and Luke just notching up a single win each, but in the final encounter with Leamington B, Luke took a maximum and guided the team to a 6-4 victory.

Thus after two rounds we lie in the top three, a very fine effort, considering that we have been using this competition as a training ground for less experienced players.

Meanwhile 11-year-old Vicky Coll, competing in the Cirencester Two Star, finished third in the Under 13 Girls’ section. She recorded a fine 3-1 win over Holly Johns (Devon), who at no 28 is one place ahead of her in the National Rankings.
