Joanna Parker and Kelly Sibley advanced to face Emily Bates and Lauren Spink in the women’s doubles final after both pairs won their semi-final contests 3-0.

Parker and Sibley, who are the firm favourites, wasted no time in beating Karina Le Fevre and Emma Vickers 3-0 (11-5, 11-8, 11-8). It was harsh on Le Fevre and Vickers who also had to face both Parker and Sibley earlier in their respective singles quarter-finals.

Their final opponents Bates and Spink beat Hannah Hicks and Tressa Armitage 3-0 (13-11, 11-8, 11-5). The first game proved pivotal in the course of the match as Hicks and Armitage’s heads noticably dropped after losing a tight 13-11 game.

Spink’s strong attacking nature providing the catalyst for the victory.
