After the drama of the Commonwealth Games team events, attention turns to the individual competitions on Tuesday, while the para athletes have their first taste of action.

The men’s and women’s singles group stages get under way from 12.30am UK time. The first English athlete in action will be Denise Payet, who takes on Ruqayyah Kinoo of Mauritius on 3.50am.

There is an all-British para clash at 4.30am as Kim Daybell faces Josh Stacey of Wales, while Ross Wilson makes his Games debut against Barak Mizrachi of hosts Australia at 7.30am, the same time as Felicity Pickard takes on Vero Nime of Papua New Guinea.

Payet’s second group match is against Ishara Madurangi of Sri Lanka at 10.10am and there are a number of Welsh, Scottish and Northern Irish athletes in action on a busy day, with the final matches due at 11.30am UK time.

Further singles group matches, plus the early rounds of the doubles, take place on Wednesday morning.
