Hannah Hicks is the Women’s English number three and a frequent member of the English team. Although she missed out on the promotion party that the girls experienced at the European Championships in Poland because of illness, she already has plenty of top successes including winning national titles and being part of the Commonwealth team that went to Delhi in 2010 despite only playing seriously since 2005. In the recent November rankings she shot up 57 places in the world.

Who are you?

Hannah Hicks and I am part of the England women’s table tennis squad. I’m ranked no.3 in England and 503 in the world ranking. I train full time at the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield. My family home is in Leckford, Hampshire where my parents, sister and brother live. I have been playing seriously since October 2005. I was first picked to represent my country in 2007 at the Czech Open and since then have continued being part of the national team.

Winning the 2011 U21’s national title and representing England at the Commonwealth Games in Delhi 2010

When/how did you get involved with table tennis:

When I was 11 on holiday at Brownsea Castle.

What does the Olympics mean to you?

It means a lot as it is the biggest competition in the world and to compete in it representing my own country would be a dream come true.
