Richardson victorious at Cramlington 2*

Dean Richardson of Northumberland won the Junior Boys Singles at the Cramlington 2 Star Junior tournament. After easily winning his group he defeated fellow Northumberland player Arran Kent and Scotland’s Keir Morton without dropping a game to reach the final.

Harry Saxton from Rotherham had come through from the other half of the draw with knock out victories over Jack Cope (Cleveland) and Joshua Weatherby (Durham). In the final Saxton took the first game and narrowly lost the second but Richardson then took command to win 3 -1.

Saxton won the Cadet Boys title, beating his brother Joe in the final. Yorkshire’s Tong Wah Chan was successful in the Under 13 Boys and also won the Junior Boys Plate. The under 11 Boys winner was Luca Pontone of Durham

Sophie Barlow of Cleveland swept the board in the girls’ events. She defeated  Charlotte McCarty, also of Cleveland in the finals of both the Cadets and Under 13 and in the Juniors shocked her older sister Katie with a 3 – 2 victory.

Amy Webster of Cleveland won the Junior Girls Plate.
