Teams ready to get in the zone

Hundreds of youngsters are preparing to do battle at the Butterfly School Team Championships Zone Finals.

A total of 265 schools will be in action across eight zones, from Cumbria to Plymouth on the weekend of January 19-20, with the exception of Zone 6 in London which is on Saturday January 12 – click here for details of the times and venues of each zone

All the schools will be looking to book their places in the regional finals which follow on February 9 and 10. The best schools at those finals will qualify for the Butterfly National School Team Championship Finals to be held at Hinckley on March 23.

The action takes place in four age groups – U11, U13, U16 and U19 – with both boys and girls on the tables. Several defending national champions from last year will be involved:

  • Whitgift School, Croydon (London South) – Under-19 Boys
  • Charles Read Academy (Lincolnshire) – Under-16 Girls
  • St Mary’s College, Hull (Humber) – Under-13 Boys
  • Wade Deacon High School, Widnes (Cheshire) – Under-13 Girls
  • St Peter’s CE Academy (Nottinghamshire) – Under-11 Boys
  • Greenway Primary, Berkhamsted (Hertfordshire) – under-11 Girls
