Three English players hit career-best rankings

Liam Pitchford is up to No 14 in the world, while Tom Jarvis is into the top 200 for the first time and Maria Tsaptsinos has broken into the top 150 women in the world.

The latest ITTF rankings, released after the World Championships in Budapest, see Pitchford up to a career high No 14, despite going out in the last 64 to Wang Yang.

Jarvis, who beat two higher-ranked players to reach the main draw, before exiting to world No 50 Kazuhiro Yoshimura, is up to No 196.

In between the two are Sam Walker, who drops two places to No 88, and Paul Drinkhall, who has moved down to 114 from 105.

Tsaptsinos, who also beat a higher-ranked opponent to reach the last 128 in Budapest – where she went out tot he world No 72 Lily Zhang – is up to No 149 on the women’s list. Tin-Tin Ho, who went out at the same stage, remains the highest-ranked English player at No 110, up 16 places since last month.
