Wales have won the right to host the European Veterans’ Championships in 2021, with around 3,000 players set to compete for the titles in Cardiff.

Table Tennis Wales, in partnership with Cardiff Metropolitan University, successfully bid to host the event, beating competition from both Spain and Norway. The winning presentation was delivered to the European Table Tennis Union Executive Board in Romania at the recent European Youth Championships.

Table Tennis Wales Vice-President Steve Eades said: “Table Tennis Wales are thrilled that its Organising Committee’s bid to host the 2021 European Veterans’ Championship in Wales has proved successful. We look forward to delivering a wonderful championship in conjunction with Cardiff Metropolitan University.”

Owen Rodgers, Deputy Director of Sport at the university, said: “Having so many athletes from all over Europe competing in our facilities is truly an honour. We look forward to ensuring this is an unforgettable event for all of the competitors. We will work closely with Table Tennis Wales to make sure this competition leaves a lasting legacy for Welsh Table Tennis.”
