Fusion completed an emphatic 7-0 victory in their opening game of this season’s SBL Premier Division.

A team of Kazeem Adeleke, Joseph Hee and Lorestas Trumpauskas welcomed North Ayrshire to London.

North Ayrshire’s Chris Main and Zak Wilson were joined by Ethan Chapman, a last minute substitution replacing an unwell Colin Dalgleish.

The tie opened with Adeleke taking on Main. The opening two sets were shared before Adeleke took the following two 11-6 to get Fusion on the board.

It was a similar story in the second match between Hee and Wilson. The opening two sets were once again shared before Hee picked up the final two sets 11-6 to win in four.

Wilson and Main then combined in the doubles needing a victory to give the Scottish side hope. It seemed they were on course to win, taking the first two sets, before Fusion’s Adeleke and Trumpauskas fought back valiantly to edge the game in five.

Kazeem Adeleke and Lorestas Trumpauskas won five matches between them including their doubles victory.

Chapman then took on Trumpauskas needing to win to prevent Fusion taking the victory. Chapman lost the opener before fighting back to win the second. Trumpauskas, however, was too strong taking the final two sets to win in four and seal victory for Fusion.

With the fixture having slipped away from North Ayrshire, Adeleke made it 5-0 as he held on to beat Wilson in a tight game. Wilson again had taken the first and lost the second, before losing 12-10 in both the third and fourth as Adelke claimed another win.

Main, playing for pride at 5-0 down, took Trumpauskas to a deciding fifth set in their singles clash. Main had lost the opening two sets, fought back to 2-2, but was edged out 12-10 in the final set.

Hee wrapped up the day’s play with victory over Chapman in three straight to complete the 7-0 whitewash.

Fusion are back in action on 7th December as they take on title holders Ormesby in what will be a testing fixture for both sides.

The 14th December then sees six teams in action after which the Premier Division will really start to take shape.
