With just days to go until the ITTF Team World Cup opens its doors, Liam Pitchford talks England’s chances of a podium finish.

The England number 2 talked to official event sponsor, 12BET, ahead of the major international event coming to London.

He said: “There’s a lot of team that can produce surprises, and I’d like to say we are one of them.

“I definitely think we can produce shocks.

“We’ve proved on our day before that we can and hopefully we can do it again in front of a home crowd.

“We proved it in Kuala Lumpur 2 years ago and we are looking to do it again.

“Results have been up and down since then for all of us, but But on our day we can beat anybody and we truly believe that we can and we are hoping to show the home crowd what we can do.”

Speaking about the competition, he added:

“There’s a lot of strong teams there.

“China is obviously the strongest national and they are still the ones to beat.

“I can’t see past China really.”
