The 2016/17 Leeds schools league play off finals took place last night at Cardinal Heenan RC Secondary School. The competition which was initially played in four separate group stages over three separate fixtures has involved thirty two teams at year 8 and year 10 and over one hundred and twenty pupils. The event which was an initiative of the Leeds Priority Zone has been supported by Leeds United Foundation and is part of  Leeds Active Schools programme. Eventual winners were Horsforth School (Y10) who narrowly defeated Abbey Grange in a point count back and The Grammar School at Leeds (Y8) who were clear winners above Horsforth. Winners will now represent Leeds at the West Yorkshire School Games. Table Tennis England Development Officer North Sally Shutt commented-‘ This is the second year we have held this competition and it is clear to see that the appetite for Schools Table Tennis is clearly growing. The standard has improved from last year and we had a number of new schools joining the league. The feedback from staff involved has been hugely positive and several new schools have now requested to be part of the PL4S Satellite Club programme’. The event was  covered by Made In Leeds TV.
