The Manchester terror attack has inspired the table tennis community to come together for a fundraising pre-season tournament.

The Wilmslow & District League is hosting its annual pre-season tournament on Sunday September 17, assisted by official sponsors GEWO.

This year, not only will players have the opportunity to compete for trophies and prizes but will also be raising money for the We Love Manchester Charity. All entrants will receive a #lovewins Bee T Shirt.

Andy Johnson, the League Secretary, said:

The suicide bombing at the Manchester Arena shocked all of us and our table tennis community. Our tournament is our way of helping to raise funds for the victims and those affected by this terrorist attack. Please come and support us as we raise money for the We Love Manchester Charity and wear your T Shirts with pride on the day.

The tournament is at The Cheadle College, Cheadle Rd, Cheadle SK8 5HA from 10am to 6pm.

It consists of Open Singles for Wilmslow & District League Division 1 players, Manchester & District League Premier & Trafford League Premier players; Open Singles for Wilmslow & District League Divisions 2 & 3 players, Manchester & District League Divisions 1 & Trafford League Div 1 & 2 players; Handicap Singles – Open to everyone inc Academy Players; Open Doubles; and Under-13 Singles.

As well as prizes, winners and runners-up receive medals and will be competing for the Ernest Johnson Cup.
