Ormesby continue to look like the side most likely to dethrone Brighton after thrashing North Ayrshire 7-0. The Cleveland outfit dropped just two ends on their way to a dominant victory, making it three wins from three for the Senior British League Clubs Premier Divison campaign.

This was, in truth, a comfortable afternoon for Ormesby, who were rarely threatened by a North Ayrshire side that were without three of their main men in Martin Johnson, Colin Dalgleish and Viktor Gorman. Their line-up consisted of Chris Main, Jamie Johnson and Billy Shilton.

The tone was set early as David McBeath and Benjamin Piggott raced to wins over Johnson and Main in straight games. Piggott impressed last time out against BATTS, beating Ralph Pattison and losing narrowly to Chris Doran. That form continued here as he was too consistent for Main, who it should be noted was nursing a leg injury.

That Ormesby pair then won the doubles over Johnson and Shilton and the outcome appeared to be inevitable.

Graeme Barella, deputising, ensured victory was in the bag. He did drop an end to Shilton in the third but the other three were comfortable as he produced a very smooth performance.

Main did make McBeath sweat as he took the second end of their match and was agonisingly close to taking it to a decider after saving four match points in the fourth before missing a game point of his own. With that, it was 5-0.

Barella and Piggott then proved too good for Johnson and Shilton, wrapping up what was a comprehensive victory for the home side. Ormesby are three wins from three, North Ayrshire are still awaiting their first victory.
