England players Ella Pashley and Anna Green both won silver medals at the Safir International competition in Sweden.
In the Under-23 Women’s Singles, Green (pictured above) reached the final and was beaten 3-0 (11-8, 11-8, 11-5) by Jeanne Robbes. Jersey’s Hannah Silcock won a bronze, having been beaten 3-2 (11-6, 9-11, 8-11, 11-6, 11-8) by Robbes in the semis.
In the U20s, Pashley reached the final, where she was defeated 3-0 (11-5, 11-6, 11-9) by Robbes. Pashley had defeated Silcock 3-2 (11-13, 11-8, 11-98-11, 11-7) in the semi-finals. Anna Green went out in the round of 16 to Emma Vendelbo in four games.
Silcock took a further bronze in the elite Women’s Singles. Pashley exited in a tight match against Siri Benjegard in the round of 16, the scoreline 3-2 (15-13, 11-7, 7-11, 8-11, 11-9).
In the Junior Girls’ Singles, Silcock took gold by beating Alice Nilsson 3-2 (11-7, 12-14, 11-8, 3-11, 11-8). Pashley took a bronze, having lost 3-1 (11-5, 11-5, 6-11, 11-7) to Nilsson in the semi-finals. Green went out to Siri Benjegard in three games in the quarter-finals.
Isaac Kingham went out in the quarter-finals of the U20s, defeated 3-1 (8-11, 11-4, 11-2, 11-6) by eventual champion Martin Froseth. In the U23s, Kingham went out in the round of 16 3-1 (11-5, 11-8, 8-11, 11-6) to Alexander Fransson Klerck, who also went on to win the gold.
