Aims & objectives

The England Performance Pathway’s objectives are:

  • To help English players find out what they are capable of and;
  • To support those athletes with the capablity to at least reach the top 20 in Europe by the time they are 18 (in order that they are sought by other clubs, nations and programmes).

How?

“By building a world leading Centre For Excellence in table tennis that will support the development of our young athletes to meet the highest standards both on & off the table”.

The National Centre For Excellence will provide the quantity and quality of training, physical conditioning and overall development that performance pathway players need to be able to find out what they are capable of.

Outcomes

  • Better at table tennis! – The NCFE will provide an full-time programme of table tennis activity that will work in line with a bespoke training program designed aimed to maximise the players tale tennis development technically, tactically, physically & mentally.
  • Learning to learn strategies – By the time players leave the NCFE, Athletes will have a greater awareness of themselves and what they need to grow by having the ability to maximise their own learning for any future environment they are part of.
  • Coping Strategies – Athletes will be more self reliant and self sufficient as a result of the programme, with the ability to deal with various environments that they will encounter in the next steps in their journey.

What will the players learn as a result of their commitment to this programme?

Who?

The programme is led by England Youth Coach, Matthew Stanforth with England Coach Matjaz Sercer, and a new full time sparrer Matej Mamut in support.
