Following last week’s announcement on changes to the Tiered Open Tournament structure, further details on the specific requirements have been released.
Regulations for the physical environment and officiating requirements at Senior 4* Open events have already been implemented to help make these events easier and more cost-effective to run for hosts and to enter by participants
Based on the outcome of a recent consultation, Board have also agreed a similar relaxation for all 1* and 2* events, and for 4* events at other age categories, which will be adopted into the Regulations for 2025/26, alongside publication of new and detailed supporting documentation.
A comparison of the key attributes and changes to main event categories can be seen here:
The naming conventions currently in use will be further considered and consulted upon – the 1*/Local; 2*/Zonal; and 4*/National designations will be changed before the new season starts on 1 August.
Details of all the competitions on the Table Tennis England event calendar can be seen here – and there are already a number of new Senior 4* events open for entry as well as ‘Satellite Opens’
The current Satellite Opens in Jersey and Wales will also transition to the new framework in season 25/26. These TTE-regulated events in other territories have recently been subject to new Memoranda of Understanding established with Table Tennis Wales and the Jersey Table Tennis Association, which also establish important reciprocal frameworks for recognising and supporting sanctions, safeguarding and disciplinary.
We look forward to seeing you at a Tiered Open Tournament soon – and if any club, league or county is interested in hosting an event in your area, please contact us for further info.
