A Girls’ National Talent Identification Day aims to identify young players with the potential to join the England Talent Pathway.
Run by the England Performance team and coaches on the SHEcoaches programme, the event is for girls aged seven to 11 and is at the David Ross Sports Village in Nottingham on Saturday May 25.
Around 30 girls will get the chance to showcase their skills during the first event in the new SHEplays series – and applications are now open.
The aim of the day, which will run from 1.30am to 7pm, is to:
- Provide high level training and coaching to players by an all-female coaching team
- Inspire girls to continue their journey onto the talent pathway
- Provide opportunities for female players across a variety of clubs and areas in the country to attend a national training day
- Provide the opportunity for the Table Tennis England team to identify players with the potential to progress onto the talent pathway, making recommendations to Pathway Development Centres
As well as multi-skills activities, training drills and exercises, there will be fun games and also a competitive element. Those who attend can also take part in a Q&A session with leading female players.
Applications are open for girls born in the years 2013-2016 who are of British Nationality, live in England, and have played for around six months or more. Players with or without a disability can apply.
We are looking for players who are driven and motivated to continue their table tennis journey. Applications will be assessed by the Table Tennis England Performance Team, who aim to select a limited number of players from a range of backgrounds.
There is no cost for players to attend the event, but players will need to support their own costs for travel, food, and accommodation if required. Table Tennis England will not be in loco parentis of players during any overnight stays.
