Liam Pitchford exited the WTT Contender Lima in the last 16 as sixth seed Lim Jonghoon of South Korea came from behind to win 3-1.
Pitchford lost the first two points of the match but then won the next five and was never behind again in the first game, winning three successive points from 8-8 to seal it.
But the Englishman could not recover from slow starts in the next three games as he trailed 3-7, 1-6 and 2-7 respectively as Lim (WR 18) completed a four-game victory on his second match point.
Pitchford now moves on to the WTT Contender Rio de Janeiro, which starts on Monday. Also on duty in the Brazilian city are Paul Drinkhall and Tom Jarvis.
