Two Olympians head the entry list for the London Grand Prix this weekend – one of the biggest Table Tennis England tournaments for the past decade.
Tin-Tin Ho and Sam Walker are the respective No 1 seeds positions in the women’s and men’s singles and Tokyo 2020 Olympian Ho and Rio 2016 competitor Walker add the stardust to a bumper entry for the two-day event at the Jean Brown Arena in Redbridge.
With 241 entries, it is the largest entry since the 2016 London Grand Prix – although between the competitors there are 731 category entries this year, compared with 722 in 2016.
There will be 34 tables on the go and 1,425 scheduled matches over the weekend, with a number of entries having to be turned away.
More than 150 players have entered the men’s singles, including senior England internationals David McBeath and Chris Doran. There is a sprinkling of international competitors too.
As ever, the Banded events take place on the Saturday, with the open events (men’s and women’s singles, under-21s, veterans and restricted) on the Sunday.
