Edna Fletcher MBE will be 99 years old this month and will no doubt celebrate the milestone with a game of her beloved table tennis, with her friends at Bracecamp Table Tennis Club.
Edna started playing table tennis at the age of 14 and it became a lifelong passion, taking her around the world playing, making friends along the way and winning several European and World Championships in her Veteran playing years.
Edna, as well as playing, has devoted much of her life to the promotion and support of table tennis for all and in 2006 she was awarded an MBE for her service to the sport.
She continues to be a driving force behind the Great Yarmouth TT League and is President of the league and always on the lookout for ways to encourage young and older people to play table tennis.
Edna still plays regularly and goes to Bracecamp TTC practice night on a Tuesday. Still nimble round the table despite a hip replacement at the age of 84, she not only continues to enjoy the game she loves but is having some coaching to sharpen up her backhand kill shot.
Edna is a legend and proof that you are never too old to play table tennis!
