Kacper Piwowar is a winner on the WTT stage after he and Poland’s Natalia Wszolek won the Under-15 Mixed Doubles at the WTT Youth Contender Zrenjanin in Serbia.

The pair defeated Bulgarian opponents Stefan Bonchev & Polina Encheva 3-1 (11-13, 11-6, 11-7, 11-6) in the final tonight.

Piwowar & Wszolek had reached the final without dropping a game, coming through four rounds of matches, including defeating second seeds Amir Essid & Ela Saidi of Tunisia in the last 16.

Dimitar Dimitrov & Beloslava Balkanska of Bulgaria went out in the last 16 to Nikola Miladinovic & Teodora Sudzum of Serbia, having won their last-32 tie 13-11 in the fifth against Vladimir Filimon & Adriana Ivan of Romania.

In the Under-19 Mixed Doubles, Tianer Yu partnered Horia Stefan Ursut of Romania and they got through the Round of 32 11-9 in the fifth against Lenard Szabo & Rebeka Nagy of Hungary, before going out in the last 16 in four games to top seeds Wassim Essid of Tunisia & Josephina Neumann of Germany, who went on to win the title.

In the Under-13 Boys’ Singles, second seed Dimitrov reached the semi-finals, going out 3-0 (12-10, 12-10, 13-11) to Filip Nagy of Slovakia, who went on to win the competition.

In the Under-17 Boys’ Singles, Rohan Dani reached the quarter-finals, losing to second seed Robert Podar of Romania 3-1 (7-11, 11-6, 11-6, 13-11). Podar went on to finish as runner-up.

Piwowar reached the last 16 and Abraham Sellado went out in the round of 32.

The competition continues over the weekend, with Yu through to the Under-19 Girls’ Singles knockout stage, Dani through in the corresponding Boys’ Singles and Sellado, Piwowar and Dimitrov all through in the Under-15 Boys’ Singles.
