Nick Donald, Chair of Table Tennis England, has announced his intention to stand down from the Board by the middle of March 2025 when he is expected to take up the position of Chair of Paddle UK. Nick has been a board member of Paddle UK since 2022, and its board has unanimously recommended his appointment as its new chair.

Commenting on his decision, Nick (pictured above) said: “Since becoming Chair of Table Tennis England in November 2023, I have been made to feel most welcome by the table tennis community and so it is with a heavy heart that I have taken the decision to step down.

“As a Board we have developed our own shared values, through new appointments we are more diverse, we now have the ability to appoint a further member elected director and we have formally constituted TT International Events, a joint venture with World Table Tennis, to develop major events in England. While there are further governance objectives to progress,

we continue to implement the Table Tennis United strategy, and the organisation is becoming more relevant and visible within our local area networks with increasing community participation.

“Table tennis is a truly accessible sport, supported by dedicated and passionate volunteers and there is a continuing need to drive change. With the support of the table tennis community, I am confident that under the leadership of our new CEO, Sally Lockyer, participation will continue to increase, and we will build a system capable of winning at the highest level.

“I have been fortunate enough to attend some brilliant events and witness outstanding talent and passionate support, which for me has demonstrated that table tennis can punch above its weight and is well placed to build a greater connection within community sport and recreation.”

The Board will now start the process of appointing Nick’s successor and further details will be communicated in due course.
