Paul Bishop has been appointed a director of Table Tennis England with effect from 5 February 2025.

Paul, a chartered accountant, is a member of the Finance and Audit Committee. The Board has approved his appointment as a co-opted director in accordance with TTE’s Articles of Association. The vacant position has arisen as a result of Mark Boote stepping down from the Board, with effect from 25 January 2025, for personal reasons.

Commenting on Paul’s appointment, Nick Donald, Chair of Table Tennis England, said: “We are delighted to welcome Paul to the Board. He brings with him a wealth of finance experience as well as his passion for table tennis where he has been heavily involved in the running of Woodford Wells TTC. He is also an active coach.”

Following a long executive career in finance, Paul is now the senior independent director at NHBC within the residential housing sector. He is also a non-executive director and chair of the audit committee at both Zurich Assurance and AXAXL UK within the insurance industry.

Paul will remain on the Board until a successor to Mark Boote is appointed. Mark also chaired the Finance and Audit Committee.

The Board decided that with the search for a new Chair ongoing, the tenure of three directors ending in May and June of this year and the need to appoint a director with financial qualifications, that it was in the best interests of the organisation to co-opt a director with finance experience at this stage. This will allow the new Chair of TTE to be involved in determining the mix of skills and diversity needed on the Board.

The Board wishes to place on record its thanks to Mark Boote for his contribution.
