Gold for Karabardak – plus first medal for 13-year-old Bly
Paul Karabardak won gold at the ITTF Polish Para Open in Wladyslawowo without dropping a set and on a good day for the British Para Table Tennis Team there were silver medals for Billy Shilton, Ashley Facey and Grace Williams, while 13-year-old Bly Twomey won bronze in only her second international tournament.
Tokyo medallists in GB squad for Poland
Tokyo Paralympic medallists Paul Karabardak and Billy Shilton head a squad of nine British athletes competing in the ITTF Polish Para Open in Wladyslawowo from May 26-28.
Three doubles bronzes for GB in Slovenia
On the final day of the ITTF Slovenia Para Open in Lasko the British team won three bronze medals in the doubles events. Will Bayley and Martin Perry took bronze in men’s class 14, Ashley Facey and Joshua Stacey took bronze in men’s class 18 and Jack Hunter-Spivey and Megan Shackleton took bronze in mixed class 10.
Hunter-Spivey and Facey take para honours
Jack Hunter-Spivey added to his growing collection of gold medals by winning the para class 2-5 at the Mark Bates Ltd National Championships, while Ashley Facey took the para class 6-10 title.
Paralympian Ash returns to table tennis fold
Two-time Paralympian Ashley Facey, who left British Para Table Tennis after the Tokyo Paralympic Games to pursue a new career in cycling, has returned to the sport he fell in love with as an 11-year-old boy growing up in East London.
