The Great Britain table tennis squad has arrived safely in Japan ahead of the delayed Olympic Games, which open in Tokyo on Friday.
Liam Pitchford, Paul Drinkhall, Tin-Tin Ho, coach Gavin Evans and practice partner Tom Jarvis first joined the Team GB preparation camp in Yokohama and will move into the athletes’ village on Tuesday.
Team Leader Simon Mills completes the GB table tennis contingent. He said: “The team has been through all the covid protocols and the testing regime both before departure and since arrival – and so far, all is well.
“We are of course not taking anything for granted and will continue to ensure we support the players to go through their final preparations safely and effectively.
“I’d like to thank everybody who has supported and helped the team on their journey so far, especially the University of Nottingham, who did a lot of work to set up a dedicated training area for the players.
“The squad are in a good place and ready to hopefully deliver their best performances when it matters.”
