Tianer Yu reached the last 16 in the Under-17 Girls’ Singles at WTT Youth Contender Spa in Belgium.

Yu, who is ranked No 85 on the world Junior list, got through her group without dropping a game and, after a bye in the last 64, continued that record in the last 32 against Louane Bataille of France.

But her run was ended in the next round in three straight by South Korea’s Lee Dahye (WR 356).

In the under-19s, Yu was unable to get through the groups, losing to a lower-ranked opponent from South Korea and world No 135 Jeanna Robbes of France.
