The Isle of Wight Handicapped Sponsored Tournament was the Island’s first tournament of 2025.
It was an excellent and well supported event sponsored by the local media outlet Island Echo, with more than 30 players of all abilities and ages from 10 to 90. Many thanks to Rob Smith (tournament co-ordinator).
In the semi-finals, Tom Johnson beat Bryce Wilson and Alex Rorke beat Paul Cates. They will meet at the Island’s Finals Night on 30 April. The other four quarter-finalists, who contributed to an enthralling contest, were Ryan Cates, Charlie Stapeley, Debbie Yates and Jye Lock.
IoW Table Tennis Association chairman, Alex Rorke said: “We are delighted, once again with the support and the sponsorship of this excellent tournament by Island Echo. It helps to raise the profile of the sport among the Island’s wider community.”
