BATTS, Ormesby and Brighton TTC all put in commanding performances to continue their dominance in the SBL Premier Division this weekend.

All three teams have now lost just one of their five fixtures, putting them in prime position for a top four spot as the league edges towards the split. In just two rounds the top and bottom four teams will break into two mini divisions.

BATTS were ruthless against a spirited TableTennisDaily (TTD), dropping just three sets all afternoon.

Tom Maynard was closest to adding to the scoreboard for TTD, pushing Josh Bennett to five sets but just losing out in a tense match that swung back and forth. Alexis Douin was named player of the match, picking up two singles wins as well as teaming up with Bennett in the doubles to help the home-side to victory.

Elsewhere Brighton TTC put in an all-around team performance to overcome Ormeau and ensure their fine season continues.

Recent signing Tom Jarvis got them on the board early with a 3-0 win over Ormeau’s Daniel Berzosa before Damien Provost immediately levelled the fixture for the visitors.

The doubles went the way of a Jarvis and Alex Naumi duo in three. Miguel Pantoja was beaten in three in his first match since signing for the Northern-Irish side, giving Brighton a 3-1 lead.

Damien Provost and Tom Jarvis shared a thrilling five-set affair, with Provost edging to a win to put his side back in the tie.

Hopes of a brilliant comeback were soon extinguished as Naumi and Andersson wrapped up their singles ties in three to give Brighton a 5-2 win.

Ormesby kept their top four hopes alive as they ensured they stayed at the top of the table thanks to a 5-2 victory over North Ayrshire.

Jose Enio Mendes was player of the match, but a confident performance by the entire team showed why the north-east squad are sure to challenge for the title once again.

Colin Dalgleish was arguably North Ayrshire’s pick of the afternoon. He showed great fight to beat Sam Mabey, as well as winning his doubles tie with Martin Johnson. Those victories ensured the scorecard showed how far North Ayrshire pushed their opponents.

Drumchapel Glasgow were unable to find their first win of the season as they lost out to Fusion. The home-side may have hoped for more with the Scores were level at 2-2 with three to play.

Lorestas Trumpauskas and Shaquille Webb Dixon picked up wins for Fusion, before Drumchapel leveled thanks to a Yaser Razouk and Danny Bajwa pairing in the doubles followed by a Bajwa singles win.

From there the father-son duo of Lorestas and Larry Trumpauskas secured the win for Fusion, before Webb Dixon wrapped up the afternoon to leave the scoreline at 5-2.

All teams will be in action once again on Sunday 10th February. Ormeau will host North Ayrshire, Ormesby make the journey to TableTennisDaily, and Drumchapel Glasgow will face Brighton TTC. Batts v Fusion will make up the sixth round fixtures.
