The Isle of Wight Table Tennis Association held a tournament recently that raised £1,650 for the local Mountbatten Hospice at Newport.

The hospice aims to promote and to provide good care and support for those people living with, affected by, or curious about death, dying and bereavement across the Isle of Wight.

Forty-eight of the top players in the south of England came to the Island for the tournament, which was won by Matt Ware.

Three of the island’s table tennis committee are pictured above handing the cheque to Terry Clawson (left) of the hospice fundraising team.

Terry said: “This is an amazing amount; a really big contribution to our services for people here at the Hospice, for which we are most grateful.”
