Entrants must be 40 years of age or over on 1st January 2017
If the Tournament is over subscribed (max 64 entrants) acceptance will be on first come first accepted.
All players will have been rated on the latest Table Tennis England 0ver 40 Ratings list 16/1. Entrants in both the Men’s and Women’s event will be banded according to this list and the event will be played in a banded system in groups, the number and size of those groups will be at the discretion of the Organiser and will depend on the number of entrants. All players within each group will play each other and the outcome of each group will be decided by the results of all those matches. The Maximum group size will be 8.
All bands start at 9.30am.
This is a 1* rated tournament ran by local organisers. It is an official ranked scheme tournament which carries a x0.75 weighting towards players ranking points. Table Tennis England suggest to the tournament organisers that one qualified umpire is used for the finals, but not required.
The format is singles only. Dependent upon entries, players will be placed into groups with all playing all once, before progressing to a knock out stage en route to the final. A match is best of five ends and first to 11 points. A consolation competition may take place for those who fail to qualify from the group stages.
