Sam Walker went out at the first hurdle at the WTT Feeder Dusseldorf as he was beaten in three by France’s Lilian Bardet.

In a tight first game, Walker found himself at 9-9 but world No 166 Bardet took the next two points. The Frenchman made it 2-0 by taking the second game 11-6, pulling away from 5-5 with four successive points.

In the third, Walker led 10-8 and 11-10 but could not close out the game as Bardet converted his first match point to go through to the last 32.

Walker formed an all-GB pair with Charlotte Carey of Wales in the Mixed Doubles, but they went out in the qualifying round to a combination from Ecuador.
