Sam Walker and Tin-Tin Ho were unable to reach the main singles draws at the WTT Star Contender Bangkok, but they won twice as a Mixed Doubles pair to reach the last 16.

The first defeated Jishan Liang & Lily Zhang of the USA in four, before coming from 2-1 down to see off Indian pair Manav Vikash Thakkar & Archana Girish Kamath – the top-ranked pair in quaifying – in the second qualifying round.

It earned them a spot in the main draw, where they will face Puerto Rican duo Brian Afanador & Adriana Diaz.

However, both went out in the qualifying stage of the singles – Ho defeated a host-nation player in the first round but was then knocked out by China’s Qi Fei (WR 73 and second seed in the qualifiers) in the second.

Walker went out to Kay Stumper (WR 125) of Germany at the first hurdle as he was unable to join Liam Pitchford and Paul Drinkhall in the main draw. Drinkhall will face Spain’s Alvaro Robles in the last 64, while Pitchford is seeded into the last 32.

Ho and partner Karoline Mischek of Austria went out in the first qualifying round of the Women’s Doubles to Yangzi Liu & Minhyung Jee of Australia, the second-ranked pair at that stage.

Pitchford & Drinkhall are fourth seeds in the main draw of the Men’s Doubles, where they will face Xue Fei & Xu Yingbin of China in the last 16.
