The latest in our TT Insider series is quite literally a magical experience as we meet Leon Thomson – who combines playing and coaching table tennis with a career as a magician.

From how he first got into the sport as a youngster at Barnet TTC in north London to success at competitions to taking up coaching, Leon: The Journey follows Leon’s fortunes over the years.

He talks candidly about how table tennis aided his recovery from his lowest point as he battled back from serious illness, and how he had to choose between sport and magic as he began to make good money as an illusionist.

We also see Leon befuddle the American women’s table tennis squad with a card trick, and knock up with teenager Joseph Hunter, who he coached in his early years and who went on to be a national champion.
