North Ayrshire will still be celebrating their astounding victory against Ormesby. One of the shocks of the season, not only does it give them a much needed boost up the table, but could potentially have huge ramifications on who will be crowned champion in three rounds time.
It was a result that stunned the Premier Division and potentially opened the door to Brighton. Ormesby had been cruising, with six wins from six it seemed that their final match against the chasing Brighton side would be their biggest challenge to a Premier Division crown. Whilst they will still remain confident this was merely a blip, the permutations are there for all to see.
Firstly Brighton will have renewed hope that they can win back-to-back titles. Before this weekend they knew that their best hope was to not drop points before the reverse fixture against Ormesby. But even a win against the north east side in those circumstances may not have been enough, that has all now changed. If they can get through two more rounds unscathed a final-day victory would send the trophy to the south coast.
In all likelihood the match between the top two will still decide where the league the trophy ends up but should there be more surprises along the way BATTS will surely be waiting to capitalise. Their matches against the top two, both to be played in April, now have even more weight attached to them. If they notch a win they will have eyes not only on second place, but the league title itself.
At the bottom of the table North Ayrshire have given themselves a bit of breathing space from the rest. They have jumped ahead of Fusion and Drumchapel Glasgow in the battle at the lower end of the league. Their next tie, a Scottish derby, could now be enough to secure their top tier future.
The next round of matches take place on 5th and 6th April as North Ayrshire aim to secure back-to-back wins with a visit to Drumchapel Glasgow. Ormesby will travel to Fusion hoping to bounce back before Brighton host BATTS on the Sunday.
The penultimate round will be played across the 19th and 26th April before the final round of the season takes place on 17th May.
As the results on Saturday show, nothing can be taken for granted in the top tier. Each side has the quality and experience to produce incredible results, and there are sure to be a few more before this campaign is over.
